Equinox Dancer 1995 - 2010
This is dedicated to Equinox Dancer, our beautiful black stallion, sire of outstanding foals and amzing saddle horse. His life was cut
short after a brief illness (suspected poisoning by noxious weeds during his last mountain riding trip) and a rupture of his large intestine.
We found him laying beside the fence in his pasture, like he was sleeping. Head tucked to his side, chin resting on the ground, no sign of a struggle.
It is comforting to know, that he passed on peacefully, however, we miss him terribly!!
Dancer was a very stylish horse with great speed and amazing agility. He was smart and incredibly level headed, gentle, yet spririted. Everything
about him was beautiful, he went on countless riding trips, did a few endurance rides, babysat our daughter when she was little, he took it all in stride.
He produced lovely foals and was always a gentleman with his mares. He used to live year round with one or two mares and he would never ever bother them
after he had them covered. He looked after the foals and loved being with his little harem. One of his favorite mares was a grey Arabian and they looked like
the fairy tale black stallion and white mare....
It will be difficult for a long time to look at his pasture and wait in vain for him to come running to the fence with flying feet and flowing mane to call
his girls. He was a very special horse and we are truly priviliged to have had him around this long. Life goes by so quickly and things can happen every day.
Enjoy every moment with your horse and never forget to appreciate them every day!!!
Beside the Fence
~ The sun plays with the leaves on the small poplar tree beside the fence.
The shadows dance on your slick black coat as you lie there.
No sign of a struggle or a fight, you look like you are sleeping, resting on your chest.
The flickering lights trick the eye, make your sides move as if breathing and twitching.
I can still hear your call for the mares, still hear your feet pounding the road on your way home.
Farewell black horse, may you dance in the clouds and among the stars! We miss you!!!~
