About Us

Equinox Acres is owned and operated by Louis Pequin, a farrier and equine dentist. It is a breeding and training facility, located in Sunset House, Alberta, Canada. Presently we have a herd of 101 horses. Most of these are products of our breeding program, which is designed to produce natural intermediate gaited horses. We are expecting 6 foals in 2011 and we stand 4 stallions. All dentistry, farriery and herd health on our horses is done by ourselves, as well as most of the training. Our horses are raised as close to natural conditions as possible and are not started under saddle until they are at least 4 yrs. old, which gives them plenty of time to develop.

We focus on producing versatility and trail horses that are easy to work with, durable, athletic and smooth in gait at all speeds. They are:

Good to look at, sturdy enough to put to work and fast enough to make a trotting horse canter!
